4 killed in Bagura, Jhenaidah road accidents

Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Bagura and Jhenaidah on Thursday morning.

In Bagura, a man and his wife were killed after private car hit a road side tree in Tishirgari area of Dupchanchia upazila.

The deceased were identified as Moynul Hasan, 74, and his wife Rawshan Ara, 65, of Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat.

 

The private car lost control and hit the road side tree while the victims were going to relative’s house of Naogaon from Dhaka’s Mohammadpur by the car on Bagura-Naogaon road at 7:30am, leaving Rawshan died on the spot and her husband injured, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of  Dupchanchia Police Station.

Later, the injured were taken to Bagura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College where duty doctor declared him dead at 9:00am.

In Jhenaidah, two people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pick-up van in Chandpur area of Shailkupa upazila.

The deceased were identified as pick-up driver Billal Hossain, 43, of Pabna and his helper Ujjal Hossain, 28, of Sirajganj.

The sand-laden truck collided with the Barishal-bound mango-laden pick-up van from Rajshahi on Jhenaidah-Kushtia highway at 5:30am, leaving the pick-up driver and his helper dead on the spot, said Sanjay Kumar Debnath, Station Officer of Shailkupa Fire Service.
